What is MED-E-ShieldTM?

MED-E-ShieldTM is best described by our tag line: Mobile Enclosures for Diagnostic Equipment. That is precisely how we named our product! The M E D – E is simply an acronym for the tag line! Add the fact that these enclosures are specifically designed to shield out harmful Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) as well as Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), and you have a concise answer to your query! But there is far more to this unique product!

This product is mobile or portable by design. The proprietary design of the aluminum exoskeleton allows for quick, easy assembly with the use of one (1) provided tool; a specially designed "hex" key. Two people with little to no experience can easily have the aluminum frame completely assembled in 5 to 10 minutes! It is this aluminum structure that allows the shielded enclosure to hang in space as a secure environment in which to operate your electronic equipment. Mobility is an important feature of our product. This allows the option to keep the shielded enclosure in place for long periods of time due to the durable construction of the unit, or to move the secure room as needs dictate. Mobility gives the owner complete control over where they place this secure environment as well as the expense to achieve that end. The cost of a "permanent" shielded room, such as an MRI room, can easily be 10 to 20 times the cost of our Mobile Enclosure for Diagnostic Equipment.

Our shielded enclosure or "secure room" is also unique in many other ways. It is constructed of an extraordinary combination of materials and fabrics that allows for flexibility and compression while providing a barrier to EMI and RFI intrusion. The fact that this is a soft enclosure makes it possible to fold it down into a much smaller size, again for portability. While there are many companies that build MRI rooms as well as hard construction shielded rooms, there are few, if any, that have a flexible portable secure structure such as MED-E-ShieldTM! Several companies provide mobile shielded enclosures for temporary military command posts but again, hardly any provide a soft solution that can be assembled and disassembled as quickly as MED-E-ShieldTM.

These exceptional materials are also responsible for the shielding effectiveness of the enclosure. Beginning with the fabric itself, the entire design is conductive and "catches" the EMI and RFI and takes them to ground. The fabric is flexible nylon that has been plated with silver. Silver is highly conductive making it an excellent path on which the electromagnetic and radio frequency waves can travel rather than continuing in free space. Silver is also good for the medical environment as it has antimicrobial properties. Proprietary manufacturing techniques all combine help to provide a "sealed" environment and attenuate the EMI/RFI.
